Today in class we had 5th graders joining middle school because it was shadow day. The 6th graders and 5th graders were in different groups together (made by teachers) in the scavenger hunt. In the scavenger hunt, for example, the 5th graders had to open our lockers, look on different assignments on moodle or make a comment to any scribe post written by a 6th grader. After the scavenger hunt, we got back to our normal class, science, and continued our lab, the paper airplane lab. In the airplane lab, we have to make any change to the paper airplane so that it can fly further. Our shadows (the 5th graders) got to make their own airplane too and got to test them. They also had to think of ways that the airplane would go further. For example the amounts of folds you make on your plane or adding the right amount of paperclips. The 6th graders didn’t really get to pay attension to our lab because we had to explain what we have done so far in science and we had to help them with the lab (some of them had no idea what to do). Today we had a fun day in science (like always), and all of our shdows enjoyed it too (I hope).
Get ready for tommorow 6th graders, another shadow day with the other half of the 5th grade class.
THE NEXT SCRIBE IS.................................TAMARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jakub - I like your opening picture for your scribe. Plus your font choice is a good size and bold color, making it easy to read. But you have not gone into enough depth about the science behind this lab. More could have been discussed about the IVs, DVs and what your final test focuses on. Good coverage of what we did for shadow day! Next time think about splitting up your ideas into different paragraphs. Overall, not bad. ~Ms. D.
ReplyDeleteI also think you could have been more specific about the science within the class, and what you learned. You had some spelling mistakes as well as punctuation problems. Nice choice in color and font, it was bold, east to read, and the picture was nice too. Its great that you guys had a fun science class!

Hey Jakub! Nice post! It's a different kind of font, and a bit too close together, which makes it harder to read (for me at least). And also, this would've been a perfect opportunity to take pictures of what you did in class, or even a video of the flight of the paper airplane! You could've also added paragraphs to make it easier to read. BUT! I LOVED the colors you used since they either have or are going to be on my braces! Haha. No, seriously I like those colors. And I also like the picture you added! However, you could've added why the papercips or the folds make a difference!
ReplyDeleteHello Jakub,
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure you guys are having a lot of fun in the aeroplane lab, but if anyone outside your class would read this, he wouldn't understand clearly what, how, why you guys are doing this lab. I appreciate that you explained well about the 'shadows', but again, I don't understand what that has any contacts with science. So, next time be more specific. Also, there were few spelling mistakes in the Scribe Post. Overall, I loved the big and coloured font, and the picture. I would also suggest you to split all this writing with bullet points, making it easier to read. I like that you seem very enthusiastic about science class :)

Hey Jakub,
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty good post to describe what you did in class. I like the thought of such a colorful post but in conbination with the font its is quite hard to read. One more suggestion is that you could have elaborated a little more on the science aspect of what you did in class. All in all, you did a fantastic job.

Jakub,
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job summarizing shadow day. However it seemed that that is what this post was dedicated to not science. I also (conflicting other comments) would recommend that you make the font smaller and less colorful. You could have explained how tweaking the airplane would affect the performance. For example how does the number of folds affect the distance? Overall you did a very good summary of shadow day.
Hello, Jakub. I remember doing this exact same lab. Just out of curiosity, is it fun? Now, for the comment. I think you added too much information about shadow day, and not enough for the actual science. The shadow day part was longer than the actual science part. You could have explained why the paper clips or folds would change the trajectory of the plane. You could have also explained what the point of the lab was. It could either be, in my airplane flying experience, to go farther, or to stay in the air the longest. There was also the color and closeness of the actual words. But, it was nice that you liked shadow day so much. Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteHey Jacob!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all good job for doing your post.
You seem enthusiastic of doing this post but there is some thing that you could do to improve your post.
-Like other people said you didn’t covered in off the science part of the post. For someone who is not in your class, it is pretty hard to understand what you are really talking about. You are explaining in a way like if everyone did this lab but I didn’t so I maybe don’t understand as well as the other 6th graders.
-The way the picture and the text were placed was weird. The up part of your scribe post when there os the picture at the left of it you see the text having like 2 words per line, it is not useful to put it like that, it makes the post complicated.
- I think putting a little of bold is nice sometimes but putting everywhere is maybe be too much and makes it difficult to read.
- Next time remember to do a spell check before posting your post because I saw some spelling error
Overall good job and keep up the good work!
Hey Jakub,
ReplyDeleteI think that the colors you chose were very good. The size of the font was also very easy to read. One thing you could have done better on is your spelling. You could have also included more facts about the science explanation and not so much about shadow day. Another thing you could also add more details about what happened when you added the paper clips. All in all, nice blog post.
Antonia
Hey Jake,
ReplyDeleteGood job :) Your post has very intriguing colors, and a pretty good picture of a paper airplane. Visually, it is attractive. I also think you did a good job summarizing everything up, and explaining what shadow day is and what a shadower had to do. However, I did catch a spelling mistake or two, and you could have focused a little bit more on the science aspect of the day, because it is a science blog. You seem to have enjoyed the day very much, and it's nice that you incorporated that enthusiasm into your post. Have a great day.
