April 19th, 2010 - In today's Science class we took a break from the subject of Light to discuss a new project for the fourth quarter - BLOGGING! We all accepted our invitation to be an author on the blog and looked at our page to see what Ms. D. set up for us.
The directions for this project are as follows:
- Each person writes a "Scribe Post" - this is a scientific explanation of what happened in class for the day (this entry is the first Scribe post). It must use good spelling, grammar and sentence structure. It should include relevant scientific vocabulary. It should have a good layout - using color, pictures and links that relate to what we are studying. Finally, it should be understandable to someone who was not in class or even to someone who is not in the Sixth Grade Class at all here at AISZ.
- Each person writes ONE Major Edit Post - this is done in the form of a comment. It comments to someone else's Scribe Post from the class. It discusses their positive aspects and gives suggestions on how to improve their post. PLUS, it gives a link to something that is helpful or improves what has already been written.
- Each person writes TWO Minor Edit Posts - this is done in the form of a comment. It comments to someone else's Scribe Post (not the same person used for your Major Edit. It comments about the layout, spelling, grammar, etc. of that person's post. It gives both compliments and suggestions on how to improve what they have written. They should be about a paragraph long. They will be graded on spelling, grammar and sentence structure, as well as it what you have written is helpful and complimentary.
We practiced doing Minor Edits on the 7th Grade and 8th Grade Blog. To see their blog pages, please click on the following links.

If you have any questions about how to write any of the posts required, or you want to look at how the posts will be graded and how much this project is worth, please click on the link below to Moodle and scroll down to the week of April 19th-25th, 2010.
Hopefully Blogging will be a fun adventure for our class and we will be able to convey to the world what we are learning in 6th Grade Science here at AISZ! Good luck, have fun and drink Pepsi :)
The next Scribe is Karin.
No homework for Wednesday's class.....And now.....back to LIGHT!
