Thursday's Class

Hello to everybody!

We did many things in Thursday's science class, we all had to take notes about Gravity, Universal law of Generation, Distance, and Weight, as the following;

Gravity is;

  • A force between all objects in the Universe.
  • It is dependent on mass and distance
  • The closer something is - the stronger is the gravity that pulls it.

There is no gravity, so nothing holds them to the center, which makes them float

Universal law of Gravitation;

  • Isaac Newton thought of it
  • Gravity exists between all objects in the Universe
  • Mass has to be very different to be noticeable
  • An example of the one above is if someone cut his or her arm! The formula for the Universal law of Gravitation is this one.

Mass is;

  • The amount of stuff in an object
  • Measured with the TBB scale (Triple Beam Balance Scale)
  • The units that it is measured in are grams.

This is a Triple Beam Balance, used to measure Newton.

Distance is;

  • The amount of space between two different objects
  • The equipment used to measured it with are rulers, meter sticks, trundle wheels
  • The units it is measured in are meters, kilometers, hectometers, and light-years.

The space in the middle of these two objects is the distance between the objects.

Weight;

  • DOES NOT EQUAL MASS!!!
  • It is the amount of gravitational force on an object
  • It is measured with a spring or force scale
  • The measurement for it is Newton.

This is a spring scale used to measure weight that works when an object is hung on the hook, and shows how much weight the object is, so how much gravitational force is pulling it down.

When we were finished with taking the notes, we had to get out our notebooks if we had taken these notes on the computer, or if we had taken notes in our lab notebook we just had to turn to our clock on the front page to see our lab partner.

In case you forgot, the lab partner was number 11.

So when we knew our partners we paired up and sat beside each other, then Ms.D asked us to take from the front counter a small and a big block of wood, with a hook on it, and a spring scale. She then told us to write the numbers that were on our wooden blocks, on our lab sheet, and to then hook them to the spring scale. When everyone had done so, she told us to free our desks and make the big wooden block go around the table by pulling it with the spring scale, and told us to observe what happened to the measurements on the spring scale but to not write an observation. She then made us do the same thing over again with the small wooden block, and then both together, and with every different try, the scale's measurement was different. We then made sure that we spoke and asked any question we had on the lab paper, and we ran over the instructions and grading. Then we put everything back and she gave us some time to write our Purpose Question, and decide what were the IV, and DV, for this lab according to the purpose question. She then made us write our Hypothesis, but she did not tell us whether the IV and DV were right or wrong, and will only tell us at the end of the lab.

The work we had to do was similar to this;

Purpose Question: What are some of the factors that affect friction pulling a wooden block across different surfaces?

IV: YOUR CHOICE TO FILL IN

DV: YOUR CHOICE TO FILL IN

Hypothesis: YOUR OWN CHOICE TO FILL IN, but to do at LEAST three guesses.

We then put everything back and packed up, she dismissed us and that was the end of the class.

Hope you enjoyed reading my Blog Post,

Duncans Reflection Post

Throughout this quarter we have done Blogger. I personally haven't liked blogger. I think it is just modernizing for the sake of modernization. I thought that Blogger was just an extra thing to do for homework. Another thing i haven't enjoyed about it was how it was time consuming and took away time from our other homework. Also I thought it was useless updating what happened in that day if people already were in class and saw everything. Comments were also annoying because there wasn't much to comment on and your grade would be dragged if you spelt 1 or 2 things wrong. Also i think that since we have been doing it the grade mattered upon how many things we did that day. For Example Indra's 45 minute class with only testing, there wasn't much to say. Overall i thought blogger was a waste of time and I hope I wont have to do this again. One thing i thought was good though was that we got to put our personal prefrence in. For this final post we were aloud to say anything. And these are my oppninions.

Chiara's Reflection Post

This year we did numerous things.

This year I learned how you make a blog and I really liked it. The best thing that we did in the fourth quater was the blog because it was so fun. When you go and read you were reviewing the things that we did in class. I didn't enjoy writing the comments. But it was a nice thing for the 6 grade science class.

The end of the year is done so have a nice summer!!!!!!!!

Jakub's Reflection

This project has been interesting and boring. it has been interesting because we could read different peoples posts and comment. It has been boring because writting a post takes a lot of time and it also takes a lot of time to upload a picture (on my computer). Some people just left this project for the las minute, but other people started it the minute it started.
Have a great summer vacation everyone and enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Davide's Reflection Post

Hey,

Summer is coming!!!!!!!! School is almost over!!!!!!! But I bet all of you will miss......Blogging!!!
I really liked and enjoyed the blogging project. I liked the fact that we could post comments telling our opinions to my frieneds. I also really liked to post, since I could understand better what we did in class.
At the start, I found it hard to write and explain perfectly what we did in class. When other people posted what we had to do for homework, it was really heplful, and I liked looking at the blogger instead of moodle. Overall, i really liked blogging.
Have a GREAT summer everyone!!!!

Courtney's Reflection Post

This project was, to me, the most fun project we had all year, including other classes. I loved how I could express myself in the blog I made, and I could understand what I was doing. I don't dislike blogging at all, and I am looking forward to blogging next year. Blogging was a bit unusual at first, but after I learned it seemed pretty easy. Blogging is also very helpful for understanding what we did in class, and it helps with homework. As I said, blogging is very fun, and I am excited on blogging next year.

Karin's Reflection Post

In this exciting quarter of science, I learned how to use the sixth grade blog. This blog was used to tell us, sixth graders, what we did in class and what our homework was.

This was a fun year of science and blogger was very usefull to find out what we did in class if you were absent of to find out your homework.

I enjoyed the blogger project because I got to comment and post and it was really fun. I cant wait to do this next year.
See you next year,
Karin
